Biosketch
Dr. Emile Woo is a General and Head & Neck surgeon and is currently a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at UBC and is the Competency Based Medical Education Coordinator for the General Surgery Residency Training Programme. He practices out of Providence Healthcare (St. Paul’s and Mt. St. Joseph Hospital) and is the current Medical Staff President. He is also a member of the BC Cancer Agency’s GI Tumour group.
Dr. Woo received his medical degree at the University of British Columbia and completed a Residency in General Surgery at McMaster University followed by a fellowship in Head and Neck surgery. He has also worked in Singapore at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in 2011. He has an interest in Thyroid Cancer surgery and is also a provincial expert in Gastric Cancer having co-authored the BC Provincial Guidelines for surgical treatment. He has lectured both locally and internationally on gastric cancer, geriatric surgery and medical ethics. He continues to enjoy teaching and training surgical residents at UBC.
In his spare time, he enjoys riding his bicycle around the local mountains and spending time with his family.
