Biosketch

Takuji GOTODA, MD, PhD graduated from Tokyo Medical University in 1992. After the internship, he started residency for Gastrointestinal Oncology from 1995 and was appointed the Chief of the Endoscopy Division at National Cancer Center Hospital from 2006 to 2010. In 2009, he received a Ph.D. from Tokyo Medical University. He has received Nishi memorial Award from Japanese Gastric Cancer Association in 2001 and 2015, and ASGE Audiovisual Award in 2005 and 2010. He has served in the board member of Digestion (Co-EIC), Gastric Cancer, Digestive Endoscopy (Co-DEIC) and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the council of the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association, Japanese Society of Gastroenterology, Japanese Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society, and Japanese Society of Gastroenterology. He has also been honored as a Fellow of ASGE from 2012, ACG from 2015, and RCA from 2015. He served Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Department of Medicine, Nihon University School of Medicine from November, 2015 to September 2023 as a professorship. From November 2020 to March 2022, he served as the Dean of Nihon University School of Medicine.

Dr. Gotoda is an expert in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. His clinical research is focused on gastric cancer because the incidence is much higher than others. Especially, he involved in standardizing ESD and making treatment indication and develop endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) as a new endoscopic technique with Dr. Hiroyuki Ono supporting by Special surgeons, Dr Takeshi Sano and Dr. Mitsuru Sasako. He has published more than 280 ppapers in peer-review journals with more than 22,700 citations and a current H-index of 72.
