Biosketch

Dr. Kelvin Voon is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric & Robotic Surgeon from Sunway Medical Centre Penang. He was the former Head of Department of General Surgery, Penang General Hospital, a tertiary referral center in Northern Malaysia.

He had his General & Upper GI surgical training in Malaysia. He then completed the Fellowship in Esophagogastric Cancer Surgery in Shanghai, followed by Fellowship in Clinical Obesity & Bariatric Surgery in Taiwan. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Ireland & Glasgow, as well as the American College of Surgeons.

Academically, he is a visiting lecturer for RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC). He is the secretary for The Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeons Society (TUGSS) & council member of Malaysia Upper GI Surgical Society (MUGIS).

His clinical interests include esophageal & gastric cancers, minimally invasive esophagectomy, robotic surgery, endoscopy, bariatric surgery & clinical nutrition. He was the lead for nutrition support team & the head of Upper GI unit in Penang General Hospital from year 2020-2023.
