Biosketch
Mingyang Song, MBBS, ScD is an Associate Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and Nutrition in the Departments of Epidemiology and Nutrition at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Clinical and Translational Epidemiology Unit at Mongan Institute at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Song received his medical degree from Shandong University in China in 2008, and then went on to receive formal training in public health, earning a master’s degree in Biostatistics in 2014 and a joint doctoral degree in Nutrition and Epidemiology in 2015, both from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. His research focuses on clinical and translational epidemiology of cancer, with the goal of translating epidemiologic advances into the clinic for improved cancer care. Dr. Song’s work has two main themes: (1) integrating large-scale observational studies with biomarker-based clinical trials to identify novel nutritional and gut microbiota-targeted strategies for cancer prevention and treatment; (2) integrating electronic health record data with molecular profiling for precision colonoscopy screening and surveillance. Dr. Song was awarded the NextGen Star by the American Association for Cancer Research. His research is supported by the National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society. Dr. Song is currently a Statistics Associate Editor of Gut, an Associate Editor of Journal of the National Cancer Institute (JNCI), and an Editor of European Journal of Epidemiology.
