Biosketch

Prof. Dr. Grimminger is senior consultant and head of upper GI-surgery in the Department of General-, Visceral- and Transplantation Surgery at the University Medical Center Mainz.

Due to his achievements in robotic-assisted surgery, Peter Grimminger was appointed as a University Professor for Robotic Surgery at the University of Mainz in 2023.

Prof. Grimminger is internationally known for robotic esophageal and upper-GI surgery and is head of the case observation center for robotic surgery in Mainz. As proctor for Intuitive Surgery Prof. Grimminger is teaching robotic surgery throughout Europe and in addition, Prof. Grimminger is member of the advisory board for Medicaroid/Kawasaki and other medical robotic companies.

Prof. Grimminger is honorary fellow of the Brazilian College of Digestive Surgery, FACS, honorary FEBS and member of multiple surgical societies such as UGIRA, SSAT, DGCH, DGAV, EAES, ASCO and more. His research activities are focused on medical and clinical as well as surgical oncology research and Prof. Grimminger has published over 150 original articles in peer-reviewed journals so far.
