Biosketch

Dr Chan founded BioStarter Consulting with the aim of working with academic teams in the Singapore to translate their research into commercially viable therapeutic products for the ultimate aim of patient benefit.

Since her return to Singapore, Dr Chan has worked with various academic institutions and Venture capital organisations. These include NCCS, NTU, SMART, A*STAR, SERI, OutramBio and Temasek Holdings. Her focus is within the therapeutics across different disease indications.

Following her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Dr Chan did her PhD at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research (then based at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College, London). She then took up a postdoctoral position at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), London, in the Centre for Cancer Drug Discovery, the world’s largest cancer academic drug discovery and development group. After her postdoc, Dr Chan moved to CRT Discovery Labs, leading multiple drug discovery programmes in the oncology space before transitioning into venture capital at Sixth Element Capital, a London based VC. At Sixth Element, Dr Chan focused on the venture creation of early stage/ start-up of biotech companies.
